Emotion Battle: iPhone versus iPad
Recently, popular international websites such as Wired, Wall Street Journal and some popular websites in The Netherlands such as Nu.nl and Tweakers.net published polls to ask their readers whether they would buy the iPad or not. The polls showed some interesting mixed results between wanna-buyers and don't-wanna-buyers. At SusaGroup, this made us decide to see how emotion was involved in their opinion about iPad. We let iPad battle it out versus iPhone, an already established and highly popular and engaging Apple product. A small group of people was asked to evaluate their emotional experience with the products using PrEmo, our emotion measurement instrument. The results Overall, both products elicited mainly positive emotions. iPad is supposed to be the latest and hottest item from Apple, but the product didn't win from iPhone as far as desirability, joy, satisfaction and pride were concerned. Welcome!
Today I have the honor to write the first post on this brand-new SusaGroup blog. From this day forth, this page will be filled with the latest news on design, technology, marketing and general things of interest, presented from our ‘design-for-emotion’ perspective. We hope to share our insights and engage you to think about emotions in the broadest sense. And, perhaps most importantly, we hope to entertain you while doing this! Nominated for the Shell Livewire young business award
SusaGroup was nominated for the Livewire Young Business award 2009 and therefore is one of the twenty most innovative young businesses in The Netherlands. In the pre-round we were interviewed at Business News Radio. Listen to that conversation at Business News Radio (in Dutch). Since we just returned from our trip to New York and Mexico, we were having quite a heavy jetlag. Check out the Livewire video:

Workshop at Future consumption and innovation conference
Directly after our sessions in New York, we moved on to Mexico city. We presented at a conference about future consumption and innovation, organised and hosted by Symrise. Again they made their payoff (Always inspiring more...) come true. Dr. Dag Piper (Global director sensory & consumer sience) had an inspiring and interesting presentation about trend and new developments relevant for their clients. Next we talked about emotions and emotional experience and did a live demo using PrEmo. On Friday we had another presentation especially for a Symrise client. Nice to be introduced as the emotion specialists from Europe.

SusaGroup workshop at Hoo-Ha sensorimix in New York
On the 16th and 17th of November 2009 we had two interesting workshops in New York city.The workshop was part of the Hoo-Ha sensorimix festival an was hosted by Mane (Flavor and Fragrance Manufacturer) USA.
